The book of Revelation has about 2 chapters on the Beasts and 22 chapters on the Lamb. Yet we always talk about the Beasts. We prefer the Beasts, the are powerful, strong, obvious, and disturbing. If we were going to enlist a leader or protector would we pick a Beast or a Lamb? The human voting record seems to indicate we would generally prefer a brute to a shepherd- or a wolf over a sheep. Our signs outside our properties indicate the same. You never see a sign that says “Beware of Lamb”. But in life, as in Revelation, following the Beast always backfires, and it is the followers who pay the highest price. How would the world be different if we rejected the love of power for the power of love? In Revelation the Lamb is slain- slain out of love for the world. The Lamb Who is Slain is also the Lamb Who Reigns. The surprise of His power catches the world off guard, but it shouldn’t, for Heaven has been crying, “worthy is the Lamb that was Slain to receive power and riches and wisdom, and might, and honor, and glory, and blessing.” Our measures are wrong. Our judgment is faulty. And Heaven offers us a new way of thinking. I don’t know about you, but I have made my choice. I’ll follow the Lamb.
